My Name is Amy Tiemann, and I’m an author, educator and advocate for equality through empowerment.

My Background

My background as a Stanford-trained neuroscientist and educator has given me a keen insight into human behavior. My doctoral work focused on cutting-edge research into brain development. My years of classroom teaching were incredibly rewarding and reinforced my lifelong love of learning.

Now, as the President of Spark Productions and co-owner of Manifold Recording media studios, I bring previously untold stories to light, serving as an Executive Producer of socially-relevant documentary films,

I’ve been a passionate, lifelong advocate for human rights and equality. And to create a more fair and just world, we must start by empowering ourselves.

My Expertise

For years, I’ve provided resources for parents and professionals who worked with kids and students at the K-12 and college level. I am a nationally-recognized expert on personal safety for people of all ages and the co-author of the new book Doing Right by Our Kids: Protecting Child Safety. My co-author is Irene van der Zande, the Founder of Kidpower Teenpower Fullpower International, a global nonprofit leader in personal safety education, and I am proud to serve the organization as a Kidpower International Senior Leader. With Doing Right by Our Kids, I look forward to sharing customized safety strategies with families and organizations to reach our goals of protecting child safety at all levels of society.

My Mission

To achieve change, we need skills, strategies, and allies; leaders and grassroots activists. Fortunately, we’re seeing a collective desire to reshape the narrative. To sit down and have the hard talks. With our children. Our partners. Our bosses. Our institutions. We are at a unique moment in time where we are all finally ready to address these issues.

The #MeToo movement will require an “all-of-the-above” strategy to achieve Safety at All Levels of society. We need to create a clear plan of action we can commit to moving forward. And the responsibility to build this culture falls on all of us: shutting down perpetrators, as well as empowering others to speak up and defend themselves.

Got a question? I have the answers.
